Fun Hair Friday #2

One of my favorite things to do is play with my daughters' hair. They both have such beautiful long blonde straight hair and I have a ton of fun finding cute little girls styles for them. Some of the styles come from creativity and some come from necessity. They both have very fine hair and it falls out of ponytails and clips and with it being hot in the summer. I need to get creative some times.

I thought it would be to share a different style every Friday and if anyone is interested, eventually start a link up for little girl (or boy) hair styles. I am by no means a hairdresser, but I figure that hair is just another medium in my crafting quest. :)

This week I am sharing what I like to call Diamond fun. It can be done on pretty much any length hair and it has a lot of impact. If you can put a ponytail in hair, you can do this.

This took me about a half an hour to do. As you can see we are sitting in front of the TV at bedtime so that my "model" won't move around so much.

If your little one has very little or very fine hair these ponytails are the best. I have found them at both Target and Walmart for about $3 and they last quite a while. They don't usually take hair with then when you take them out and they are low profile enough that little fingers have a hard time pulling them out.

Step 1: Start closest to the forehead in the center and place your first ponytail. Then go along the face placing them evenly apart stopping at the ears. I use 5 for the front but you may need more if you are working with thick hair.

Step 2: take just the hair that is in each of the ponytails and split it in half. Join one half with half of the adjacent ponytail. On the outside ponytails, do not split them. Just take the whole ponytail and join it with the half next to it. My second row only has 4 pontails.

Step 3: You will continue this with the next row and as you can see, you are now down to 3 ponytails.

Step 4: On the final row, you will not be dividing since both left would be considered your outside ponytail. Just simply join the 2 together.

And there you have it. A very simple style that has a big impact. The nice thing is that it's very easy to sleep in and usually last for about 2 days without looking messy.

The most important thing to remember is after the first set of ponytails, you will only be using hair that is already in the ponytails and not include any of the hair against the head.

If you get a chance to try it, I would love to see how it turns out.

Happy Friday!!!
