Between the hot weather and gymnastics practice it seems like I'm always trying to keep my girls' hair out of their face. One of the cutest ways to do that is with a french braid. They are definitely easier to do then they look. I learned to french braid when I was about 10 because by big sis said that I couldn't and I'm not the kind of girl to back down from a challenge. Here's the basics....
Here I color coated the strands to try to help the visual.
Here's how it looks finished.
French braids can also be inversed for a different look. For that look you would cross the strands on the underside instead of on top. Inverse takes a lot more practice, but it's something to work towards.
Another cute look is to just french braid the top section of both sides for half french braids. My girls call then "baby braids"
Good luck and happy braiding!
Beautiful, I use to love my mum braiding my hair for school :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial. I may try this cause I can do a fishtail braid, but I've never been able to get french braiding down! This is the best one I've seen so far. I think the color coding and numbering really helps me figure it out. :) We shall see! Thank you. :)

Thanks! I hope it helps. I would love to see pics when you get it down. :)
DeleteHow sweet. I love how patient your little model is for the braids and the pictures :)
ReplyDeleteMy oldest only sat there because I promised her 5 M&M's. By the end she was so over it she went to school with one regular and one inverted braid. lol
DeleteBack when I had long hair I used to braid my own hair all the time, and I preferred the inverted to the normal French Braid. I think it was mostly because not many people had seen it and were intrigued by it. LOL I did it so much that to do a regular French braid took more concentration!
ReplyDeleteNice job on the tutorial!
Thanks!
