Whimsy Couture Apron - Pattern Review

I recently had the opportunity to review a new apron pattern by Whimsy Couture. My daughter was so excited to pick out her fabrics. She used farm fabric left over from last year's teacher gift. What she and I both love the most about this apron is it's a do it yourself pattern.

The neck is elastic instead of ties and the apron velroes on the side instead of tying in the back. Maddie was so excited that she can grab it whenever she want to help me in the kitchen or bretend in hers without having to constantly ask for help. You know 5 year olds are a big deal and asking for help just isn't an option. :)

This pattern should be released soon and I think that it would make a great Christmas present.

Green Bay Packers Petal Dress

My niece Audrina has a birthday in about a week and my sister is the biggest Green Bay Packers fan I know so I thought that I would make her a gift that would make them both happy.  Enter the Green Bay Packers Petal Dress. I used the Annie Petal Dress from Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop.  I think that this is the best way to make sports wear super girls and fun.

The awesome dress is complete with coordinating green and yellow Korker bow. The petals were a little more difficult that I thought they would be to get them to line up just right and keep the correct shape. Definitely not the easiest dress pattern I have ever made, but sometimes sewing outside your comfort zone helps you learn new techniques.

I'm excited to see what this little diva and I come up with for her Packers gear for next year. :)

Father's Day Shirt

Father's Day is only a couple days away now. I wanted the girls to make something for the Mister but I wanted it to be something useful. We came up with a shirt. Did it turn out perfect? No, but I like it, the girls are happy with it and we hope Daddy likes it too.

My favorite part is the hand prints. The one at the top belongs to my youngest and the one at the bottom belongs to my oldest. We used a freezer paper stencil for the hands and the words. It's super easy, you just cut out your pattern and iron it on.

Here's a picture of the stencils on the shirt. Hopefully it's not too hard to see.

I set out a bunch of fabric paint and cottonballs for the girls to 'dab' the paint onto the shirt.

I taped off the areas around where I wanted the girls to paint. The tape also kept the shirt from sliding around while they were painting. We pulled up the stencils while the paint was still a little tacky and it came up great.

After the paint was dry (over night) I stitched a satin heart below the words. This was my very first applique.  It's not perfect, but I'm happy with my first try.

Hope everyone has a safe weekend and an awesome Father's Day!
