Narrow Rolled Hem Foot

While working on Halloween costumes I got a chance to pull out and finally try my narrow rolled hem foot. After a couple of runs on a test piece of fabric I can't imagine why I never used it before. I bought it a couple months ago and when it arrived I just got intimidated. Am I the only one who finds new sewing techniques intimidating?

This foot makes a 1/4" rolled hem without using an iron all. The costumes I am working on have a thick but silky material so ironing was almost impossible.

See what a perfect hem it creates. All that is involved is popping off the normal stitch and popping the rolled hem one on. Girly pink with glitter, what's not to love (if you're 2)?

I was able to pick this one up on Amazon.com for about $10.00. What sewing feet have you tried lately?

  1. Thanks so much for sharing this post! I'm seriously off to buy one right now! I just used a gathering foot on my daughter's Halloween costume and also wrote about how awesome it is! I can't wait to get my hands on a ruffle foot. I used to be scared about changing feet...but it is so easy!

    1. I'm glad I got it. I have a ruffle foot but I usually end up being lazy and changing the machine tension instead. I really should use it more.

  3. I just ordered a sewing machine from Amazon. I figure this way I don't have to lug it to the car and then to the house. I can't wait! The last time I bought a Sewing Machine was back in 1984 and it was going to cost over 80 to get it fixed. lol

    1. I sew (mostly for my girls) when they go to bed. They are young so bed time is 8.

  5. Thank you so much for sharing! I need to buy one of these. I have the basic foots for my machine but I would love the ruffle foot and this one. I actually just used my button hole foot for the first time last week while bringing in some pants. I am a new follower of yours over from Mom's Monday Mingle. Would love if you could visit my blog and follow as well.

    Thanks

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I used to be intimidated by the buttom hole foot, but it definitely easier to use than it looks.
